Plymouth & District Mind is a small charity and rely on a large group of enthusiastic volunteers. They are members of the local community, students and professionals that dedicate some of their spare time to the well being of their community.
Their job is fundamental to us and helps our charity to deliver the best service possible to our users. We are very proud of the work that our volunteers do.
Through them we have just launched Friends to Go designed to improve well being and bring people together to avoid isolation, which can lead to mental health issues. See the programme. Friends to Go is free and includes an art club, walking/running group, coastal clean up, singing and New Mums Connect.
Here are only some of them in action!
“It has been a interesting and inspiring 9 weeks learning about how to empower people through the value of peer support!” Zoe and Paula (final year occupational therapy students in placement)
“I enjoy helping run the cafe as it is in a great location and I get to meet many wonderful people. It is also good for community involvement and other activities that happen.” Jonathan
“I like volunteering as I like helping people and talking to different types of people. It’s a very interesting place to be, there is always something going on.” Sue
“I enjoy giving a few hours a week to help out all the hard working staff at Plymouth Mind. It’s not much, but I know is a big help to them, it helps me building confidence and learn new skills that I can use at work and at home“ Joanne
A big thank you from us and please keep doing this amazing job!
