Plymouth and District Mind is a successful and forward-thinking charity helping improve the lives of thousands of people with mental health problems in Plymouth and surrounding areas since 1984. Services include counselling, psycho-educational courses, support groups, volunteering, coaching, information and training. We are an independent registered charity that is affiliated to Mind, the national mental health charity and we are proud to be part of a network of 129 local Minds in England and Wales.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

We are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager who can identify opportunities and create new partnerships to help us grow our organisation and the support we offer into the county of Devon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of business development to shape the future of our charity and its mission to deliver better mental health for everyone. The role is a new one in our team, and we are looking for someone who can bring their own ideas and personality to it. Experience of working in mental health, or in a community organisation is desirable but not essential.

We are looking for someone who can deliver on our scoping exercise in Devon to inform future planning and service delivery opportunities. You will have exceptional written skills to submit high quality funding bids, and a persuasive and organised approach to business development. We are also looking for someone who can demonstrate a strong performance history in previous business development roles with a track record of successful partnership development, including the preparation of innovative business cases. This post is funded by a grant from national Mind.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker who understands how to address social problems in a fast changing landscape. The candidate must have an extremely good grasp of data systems and be able to use this data to inform the strategic development of Devon Mind. You will be responsible for delivering on a clear business plan, working effectively with senior operational colleagues, including the CEO and Financial Controller.

There is an expectation that this role will meet annually agreed success and growth measures, as outlined in the Annual Plan 2019-2020.

The post holder will also develop a marketing strategy and lead digital initiatives.

This role is for 18.5 hours per week, days are negotiable. There may be an opportunity to extend the hours in line with any successful match funding bids. The post is fixed term for 12 months with the possibility of extension dependent on funding.

PATH DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

We are looking to recruit a PATH Development Officer who can take a lead on the delivery of a new EU-funded project involving Devon Mind as a partner. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to play a key role in designing, delivering and implementing new, durable services (both online and face-to-face), aiming to increase recognition and prevention of perinatal mental illness, and supporting new families’ mental wellbeing. The role will also involve participation in the development of online and face-to-face training for health professionals across all sectors in order to increase their confidence to recognise the symptoms of perinatal mental health issues and provide appropriate care. This will also include the development of resources for employers, helping them to support the return to work of new mums.

The role is a new one in our team, and we are looking for someone who can bring their own ideas and personality to it. Experience of working in mental health, or in a community organisation is desirable but not essential.
