DSH: Positive Choices is a 2 year Erasmus+ funded project (2015-2017) that is being coordinated by Plymouth and District Mind. The project aims to develop a comprehensive toolkit of resources and training materials that can be used with young people to enable them to become more emotionally resilient, confident, and self-aware. The project is specifically aimed at supporting those young people for whom their mental health is becoming, or has already become an issue. In particular, we will be looking at the issue of self-harm as a coping strategy.
Who is involved?
We have some fantastic partners from across Europe who will be involved with us on this project. They are:
Each partner will host a 3 day meeting during which they will deliver 2 one-day workshops around related themes that can help young people to build emotional resilience. The workshop resources will also be used to train anyone who works/volunteers with young people on how they can recognise and deal with symptoms of poor mental health.
Over the 2 year lifetime of the project, we will:
• Deliver 72 workshops in the field of youth to address self-harm and emotional resilience
• Translate materials for delivery in each of the partner countries
• Create volunteer committees to monitor the evaluation and sustainability of the project locally
• Evaluate the workshops and project.
Would you like to be involved?
We are looking for individuals who work/volunteer with young people to join our steering group. The groups primary function will be to evaluate the different resources that come out of the project and to oversee their implementation in the city. If you would like to get involved, then please email [email protected].
